The Storrow Drive on-ramp to I-93 South will be closed at night Sunday, August 24, 2008, Monday, August 25, 2008, Wednesday, August 27, 2008 and Thursday August 28, 2008 from 11:30 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for I-93 South should follow posted detour signs via Martha Road and Merrimac Street to the I-93 South on-ramp at New Chardon Street.

Nighttime Ramp Closures

The Haymarket on-ramp to I-93 South and the Callahan Tunnel will be closed at night Tuesday, August 26, 2008 and Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 11:00 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for I-93 South, Route 1A, East Boston, and Logan Airport should follow posted detour signs towards Leverett Circle. At Leverett Circle motorists should access I- 93 South. Those destined for Route 1A, East Boston, and Logan Airport should take Exit 24 off I-93 South.

This closure is to allow for utility work.

 I-93 South Exits 24 A and B to Government Center and Callahan Tunnel
Nighttime Ramp Closure

The exit ramp from I-93 South to Government Center and the Callahan Tunnel (Exit 24 A and Exit 24 B) will be closed at night on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 11:30 AM to 5:00 AM.

Motorists will be detoured to the left lane of Exit 23, Purchase Street. From there drivers trying to access Government Center should follow the posted detour via Atlantic Avenue while drivers heading to East Boston and Logan Airport will be detoured to the Ted Williams Tunnel via Seaport Boulevard.

This closure is to allow for maintenance work.

I-93 South Exits #20 A South Station and #20B to I-90 (Masspike) West and Albany Street will be closed and detoured at night Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 11:30 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for I-90 West and South Station/Chinatown should stay on I-93 South and reverse direction at Exit 18 (Mass Ave Exit). Stay in the left lane of Exit 18 and turn left onto the South Boston Bypass Road. Drivers should then turn left again onto Frontage Road northbound and follow signs for I-90 West, Albany Street or South Station.

I-93 North Exit #26 to Storrow Drive will be closed and detoured at night Monday, August 25, 2008 through Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the following morning.

Motorists destined for Storrow Drive will be detoured to Exit 28 (Sullivan Square) and should follow the posted detour via Rutherford Avenue and Gilmore Bridge to Leverett Circle.

The Sumner Tunnel on-ramp to I-93 North will be closed at night Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.

Drivers will be detoured towards Storrow Drive/Cambridge and should then follow the signs for No. Station via Nashua Street. Then drivers will be directed back toward Government Center via Merrimac Street.

The Haymarket on-ramp to I-93 North will be closed at night Sunday, August 24, 2008 from 10:00 PM (11:30 PM Sunday) to 5:00 AM the next morning.

Drivers will be detoured towards Storrow Drive/Cambridge and should then follow the signs for No. Station via Nashua Street. Then drivers will be directed back toward Government Center via Merrimac Street.

The Atlantic Avenue on-ramp to I-93 North will be closed at night Monday, August 25, 2008 from 10:30 PM to 5:00 AM.

Motorists should follow posted detour signs to I-93 North or Storrow Drive via Atlantic Avenue and Cross Street, or to Tobin Bridge via North Washington Street and Rutherford Avenue

 I-93 North Exit #20 to I-90 East
Early Morning and Nighttime Ramp Closure

The ramp at I-93 North Exit #20 to I-90 East will be closed early mornings on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 and Wednesday, August 27, 2008 (Monday and Tuesday nights) from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM and again at night on Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning.

Motorists should use Exit #20 to Kneeland Street/ South Station and take a right on Kneeland to Atlantic Avenue and take a right on Summer Street and follow signs to the I-90 East on-ramp in South Boston.

This closure is to allow for maintenance work.

 Paving Project  I-90 (MassPike) East between Palmer and Warren
Early Morning and Daytime Lane Closures

A two-month paving project continues with paving happening from 3 am to noon on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 on I-90 (MassPike) East between Palmer and Warren.  Lanes will be closed for milling and paving on an 800-foot stretch a few miles after Exit 8.  

Traffic delays are expected.  Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

The paving project is needed to repair the highway both eastbound and westbound in this area between mile marker 60 - 70.  The paving work needs to be completed in dry weather.

I-90 East HOV Tunnel to Logan Airport
Nighttime Closure

The I-90 East high occupancy vehicle (HOV) tunnel to Logan Airport will be at night Monday, August 25, 2008 through Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 9:30 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

HOVs traveling on I-93 North should take Exit 20 to I-90 East/Logan Airport. HOVs destined for I-90 East from Downtown Boston or I-93 South should follow the signage to I-90 East from Albany.

HOV access from I-93 North to the South Station Transportation Center and Kneeland Street remains open.

This closure allows for maintenance work.

 I-90 East (Masspike) Exit #24 B and C to I-93 North and South
Nighttime Ramp Closure

The ramp at I-90 East Exit #24 B and C to I-93 North and South will be closed at night Sunday, August 24, 2008 through Tuesday, August 26, 2008 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning. Access to Kneeland Street/ South Station will remain open.

Drivers destined for I-93 North and South should use Exit #24A to South Station. Those headed for I- 93 North should stay straight on Atlantic Ave to the I-93 North on-ramp at the Seaport Boulevard intersection. Drivers destined for I-93 South should turn left onto Kneeland Street towards Chinatown to access the I-93 South on-ramp at Albany Street.

This closure is to allow for utility work.

Access from Frontage Road and Albany Street to I-90 East and Logan Airport will be closed early mornings on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 and Wednesday, August 27, 2008 (Monday and Tuesday nights) from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM and again at night on Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning.

Motorists destined for I-90 East, South Boston and Logan Airport should follow Frontage Road North to Atlantic Avenue to Summer Street and D Street.

Motorists destined for I-90 East and Logan Airport should follow the posted detour via the South Boston Bypass Road to the I-90 East on-ramp at Frontage Road.

Traffic should use the Clarendon Street on-ramp.

Nighttime Ramp Closures

The on-ramp from Congress Street to I-93 in South Boston and the I-90 West Exit 24 to I-93 will be closed to traffic at night Sunday, August 24, 2008 through Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM the next morning.

Motorists traveling from Congress Street and I-90 West to I-93 North will be detoured via B Street and Seaport Boulevard to the I-93 North on-ramp. Those traveling to I-93 South will be detoured via D Street to Summer Street and Surface Road to the I-93 South on-ramp at Essex St.

This closure will allow for utility work.

I-90 (MassPike) West in South Boston will be closed at night Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 11:30 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning. The On-Ramp to I-90 West from D Street will remain open.

Motorists traveling on I-90 West will be detoured to Exit 25 (South Boston). Drivers destined for I-90 West should follow posted detour signs to the on ramp at D street.

These closures are to allow for continued construction of the new underground Central Artery.

Nighttime Ramp Closure

The On-Ramp to I-90 West from D Street will be closed at will be closed at night Wednesday, August 27, 2008 from 10:30 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning.

Motorists destined for I-90 West should follow the posted detour via D Street, Summer Street and Southbound Surface Artery to the on ramp at Albany Street.

 Paving and Ramp Widening Project Near Rt. 495/Exits 11 and 12: Hopkinton and Westborough
Daytime Lane Closures

A pavement resurfacing and ramp widening project is under construction near Rt.495 between exits 11 and 12, from Mile 104.9 to 107.2 in Hopkinton and Westborough on the eastbound and westbound sides of the MassPike. Single lane closures will be required Monday through Thursday westbound between 6:00am and 2:30pm and eastbound between 9:00pm and 5:00am the following morning and Friday westbound between 6:00am and 12:00pm.

 I-90 (MassPike) West at the New York Border
Daytime Lane Closures

The New York State Thruway Authority announced that steel erection for a bridge replacement project near the Massachusetts State Line on the Berkshire Connector, will require periodic traffic stoppages on Monday, August 25 and Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather, the stoppages will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2008.

During the scheduled operations, westbound traffic will be brought to a complete stop for no longer than 20 minutes each. Motorists are advised that they may experience residual traffic delays as a result of the stoppages.

This phase of the bridge replacement project includes the installation of steel girders for a new bridge between Interchange B3 (Route 22, Austerlitz, New Lebanon) and the Massachusetts State Line on the Berkshire Connector.

 I-90 (MassPike) East and West Maintenance and Inspections
Daytime Lane Closures

For the next several months maintenance crews will be doing repair work on sections of I-90 (MassPike) East and West from the I-90/I-93 Interchange in Boston to the New York State line during the day from 7 AM/ 9 AM (depending on location) to 3 PM weekdays.

Construction work zones will require lane closures to do the highway repair work. Much of the work needs to be completed in dry weather.

 Harrison Avenue/Washington Street Bridges and I-90 (MassPike)
Lane Closures and Changes

The four lanes on Washington Street and Harrison Avenue are reduced to two lanes traveling on the newly constructed bridge deck. The Harrison Avenue Bridge has been reconfigured to allow two-way traffic.

These lane closures and changes are to allow for the Harrison Avenue and Washington Street bridge deck replacement work through the fall.

Daytime and Nighttime Lane Closures

Lanes will be closed on I-90 (MassPike) East and West near and two miles after the Sheraton in Newton at night from Sunday, August 24, 2008 through Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 9:00 PM to 5 AM the following morning and during the day Monday, August 25, 2008 through Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 10 AM to 2 PM.

This allows for maintenance and bridge repair work.

Also lanes of I-90 (MassPike) Tunnel East and West will be closed Monday, August 25, 2008 through Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 9 PM to 5 AM the following morning.

This closure is to allow for bridge reconstruction work, maintenance, utility work and inspections.
